What Is Real Gold Foiling?
Hot foil stamping presses a metallic foil onto paper using a heated die — a custom-made metal stamp of the design or name. Heat and pressure bond the foil permanently into the cardstock, leaving a crisp, reflective impression you can feel.
Compare that to "golden" printing, which is just yellow-gold ink laid flat on the surface. It looks dull in most light, cannot be felt, and fades. Real foil catches light from every angle and stays brilliant for decades — which is why wedding envelopes foiled fifty years ago still gleam in family albums.
How a Personalised Envelope Is Made
- 1. The illustration. Every design begins as an original hand illustration — a Pichwai lotus, an evil eye, a little birdie.
- 2. The printing. Designs are printed on thick luxury cardstock at our own family-run press in Nagpur.
- 3. The die. Your name is set in type and made into a metal die — unique to your order.
- 4. The stamping. Each envelope is fed into the foil press by hand, one at a time. Heat, pressure, a half-second hold — and the gold is part of the paper forever.
- 5. The finishing. Folding, quality checks, and packing. Because each piece is hand-fed, no two are absolutely identical — and we consider that the signature of the craft.
Why Made-to-Order Matters
We do not keep warehouses of pre-printed stock. Every order is produced after you place it — which is what makes true personalisation possible. Your name is not a sticker or an afterthought; it is stamped into the design itself.

How to Spot Quality Foiling
- Feel it. Real foil has a subtle relief; ink is flat.
- Tilt it. Foil flashes and mirrors light; ink stays matte.
- Look at the edges. Crisp, clean lines mean a well-made die and careful pressing.
